Here is one of the most important things about balloon art, that most balloon artists don't pay attention to: Complicated balloon sculptures are too time consuming to make at a fast pace in a busy spot.
I can’t stress this point enough; stay away from the complicated balloon sculptures. Make the simplest balloon sculptures when you are very busy. Do not get into making complicated balloons, just to show how great or cool you are.
That will always work against you. Especially when you are
working feverishly to manage a waiting crowd, don’t make fancy balloons just because someone is willing to pay the big price.
What will happen is that everyone will want the bigger balloons which will take up all your time and your income will dwindle to one third of what you could have made by just sticking to smaller balloons.
The complicated balloon sculptures have their place, but only when you are paid by the hour! Maybe...and I say maybe, on slow days when you have the extra time and you want people to see something cool, and since they do take a while to make, they are great for keeping people at your stand to attract more customers.
But remember, once everybody wants those, you’re sunk!!! If I make something fancy in front of a crowd, I’ll charge a higher price, so people won’t order it!! Ha! They are great for birthday parties, when you're paid by the hour, and ALL the kids have one balloon sculpture already.
I will then, make a fancier balloon sculpture for the birthday boy or girl, and even tell the other kids that this one is very special ONLY for the birthday child.
